The Manipur Assembly notes with grave concern the 24.75% rise in Indian population in the last decade as per report of the 1981 Census which has direct bearing to development process and will greatly hamper/ jeopardise the onward march of our country towards economic prosperity; reaffirms our commitment to work for the success of the voluntary population programme involving all sections of our society for the acceptance of “small family norm”; and recommends to the State Government to set up autonomous State Level Population Board to promote and monitor the population programme in the state at the grass root level.
