The House assembled at 11.00 am of Wednesday, the 22nd February, 2006 in the Assembly Hall with the Hon’ble Speaker, Dr. Md. Maniruddin Shaikh in the Chair. 

MEMBERS PRESENT: 

            Hon’ble Chief Minister, 10 Cabinet Ministers, Chairman (Hill Areas Committee), 1 Minister of State and 46 Elected Members. 

ADDRESS BY THE GOVERNOR: 

            Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu, His Excellency, the Governor of Manipur addressed the Legislative Assembly, Manipur. 

MOTION OF THANKS: 

            Dr. M. Nara Singh, MLA moved the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s Address and Dr. S. Budhichandra Singh, MLA seconded the motion. 

OBITUARY REFERENCE:  

            The Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly moved a resolution on obituary reference on the demise of Shri R.K. Ranbir Singh, former Speaker, former Chief Minister and former Member of Manipur Legislative Assembly.  

            S/Shri T.N. Haokip, MLA, R.K. Dorendra Singh, MLA, N. Mangi Singh, Commerce and Industries Minister, S. Ibohal Singh, MLA, I. Hemochandra Singh, MLA, Md. Abdul Salam, MLA, E. Biramani Singh, MLA, L. Ibomcha Singh, MLA and Shri O. Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister participated in the Obituary Reference. 

            The following resolution was adopted by the House:-           

                        “That,  this  House  expresses its  deep sense of grief and sorrow at the  demise of  Shri R.K. Ranbir Singh, former Speaker, former  Chief    Minister and  former Member of Manipur Legislative Assembly.

                        And, that the Members of this House observe 2 (two) minutes’ silence  by standing as a mark of respect to the departed soul.”

            The House observed two minutes’ silence and closed the business for the day as a mark of respect to the departed soul. 

            Hon’ble Speaker, Dr. Md. Maniruddin Shaikh adjourned the House at 1.20 p.m. till 11.00 a.m. of Thursday, the 23rd February, 2006.
